Roy Hoover

Roy Hoover is Weyerhaeuser Professor of Biblical Literature and Professor of Religion Emeritus, Whitman College, where he taught courses in ancient Greek, biblical history and literature, capitalism and socialism in theological perspective, and world religions. A Fellow of the Jesus Seminar since 1986, he has written a number of the papers that served as the basis for the Seminar’s deliberations and has frequently participated in the Jesus Seminar on the Road Program. Roy Hoover is co-author (with Robert W. Funk) of The Five Gospels. The Search for the Authentic Words of Jesus, 1993.

Salim Mansur

Salim Mansur is a Professor of Political Science at the University of Waterloo who specializes in issues related to Islam, South Asia, and Middle East. Salim is a well-known progressive Muslim who is the author of Islam’s Predicament: Perspectives of a Dissident Muslim” and more recently the controversial Delectable Lie: A Liberal Repudiation of Multiculturalism (Mantua Books. 2011). Salim will address the question of the historical Mohammed as well as speak about his most recent book.

Raheel Raza

Raheel Raza is a former Board member for the SnowStar Institute and a well-known media personality who advocates for the rights of women in Islam. She is the author of Their Jihad, Not My Jihad, and has written many newspaper articles for the Toronto Star, The Globe and Mail, and the National Post dealing with Canadian culture, Islam, and women’s issues. Raheel will host a round-table, multi-religious panel on “Extremism’s War Against Women.” The speakers on this panel include Barbara Kay (National Post), Aruna Papp (Counsellor/Therapist and present she is with Family Services of York Region) and Laurie White.

David Galston

David Galston is a co-founder of the SnowStar Institute and its Past-President. He is the author of Archives and the Event of God (2010) and the soon to be released, Revitalizing Christianity with the Historical Jesus (2012). David is the Ecumenical Chaplain at Brock University, an Adjunct Professor of Philosophy at Brock, and Director of the Quest Centre for Religious Literacy in Hamilton, ON. SnowStar will hold a book launch for David’s latest book.
